Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What happens in a typical lesson?

A:    Each lesson lasts 55 minutes and is completely tailored to you. (Hourly slots to allow 5 minutes buffer time for any questions or if we slightly overrun!) We’ll start with a vocal warm-up, followed by exercises to help develop your technique. Then we’ll work on a song (or songs) of your choice, whether it’s something you love, need for an audition, or just want to explore. Every session is designed to help you grow in skill and confidence at your

own pace.

Q: I've never sang before, does that matter?

A:    Not at all! A lot of my students started as beginners. You don’t need experience, just a willingness to give it a go! Lessons are super relaxed, supportive, and tailored to you. We’ll go at your pace, build your confidence, and help you find your voice along the way.

Q: What equipment do I need for online lessons?

A:   For online lessons you will need a device with a camera and microphone. I strongly advise using a laptop for audio quality. It also really helps to have a second device you can use to play backing tracks to accompany you while you sing. It makes things easier, and you can use it to find and prepare your tracks ahead of time.

It is also vital that you are in a quiet place with a good internet connection

For my lessons I use Zoom, so please ensure your app is up to date (always check before your lesson) and always use the app rather than the web

browser version.

Please also ensure you set your Zoom up with

the following settings:

Q: What days do you teach?

A:   My working days are Monday - Friday, with some in-person slots in London on Saturdays too. I tend to open my calendar towards the end of each month for the following month. Due to high demand I strongly recommend booking in advance to secure your lesson.

When you book an online lesson you will be able to see my calendar availability to choose the date/time slot that works best for you.

I understand that sometimes things come up last minute, so if you need an emergency lesson, please contact me and I shall try my very best to accommodate.

Q: What if I need to cancel or reschedule?

A:   No problem! I just ask for at least 48 hours’ notice for any changes to your booking. Otherwise I cannot guarantee I will be able to reschedule your lesson, or provide a refund. Please contact hello@rachelgrundy.co.uk if you have any issues.

Q: Do you teach in-person as well as online?

A:   Yes! In-person lessons can be arranged on request, depending on your location. I’m based in Bromley/London and can travel locally where possible. If you’d prefer to take lessons at a studio, that’s absolutely fine! Just keep in mind that the fee will be slightly higher to cover the studio hire cost.

Please email hello@rachelgrundy.co.uk for all in-person enquires

and to book.

Q: Will you accompany me in the lesson?

For both online and in-person lessons, you will be accompanied by me during the warm-up and exercises. We will then use backing tracks for

your chosen songs, as this allows me to give my full attention to you

and your voice. It is still recommended that you bring sheet music to

refer to throughout the lesson.

Q: How often should I have lessons?

A:   That’s totally up to you. Some students come weekly, others fortnightly or ad-hoc. We can chat about what works best for your schedule and goals.
